An excellent fightback saw Pompey Ladies continue their flying start to the season with a 4-1 win against Gillingham on Sunday.

The Blues were 1-0 down at the break but they turned the match around in style to make it two wins from two and 10 goals scored.

Shannon Albuery, Katie James, Jade Bradley and Daisy McLachlan all netted for Pompey.

Maddison Farrand put visitors Gillingham ahead in the first half.

But Pompey did not take long in the second half to execute the plan put in place by boss Jay Sadler.

Albuery kept her cool well to level it up.

The Blues took the lead when James fired home an excellent strike from outside the box.

Pompey were now on a roll and the goals continued to flow.

Jade Bradley made it 3-1 with another good shot from outside the area.

Daisy McLachlan then added to her hat-trick on the opening day with her fourth goal of the season and Pompey’s fourth of the afternoon.

Bradley was voted the Pompey Women’s player of the match.

Sadler’s team will be looking to continue their bright start to the season in the derby clash with Chichester on Sunday (2pm).

The match is in the National League Cup to be played at Baffins Milton Rovers FC – it will feature a number of players who have switched between the two clubs and will face their former sides.
