Kenny Jackett's men delivered an exciting display of attacking quality and promise to pick up a 3-0 success at Fratton Park and maintain their unbeaten league opening.

Rampant Ronan Curtis grabbed a double either side of the electric Jamal Lowe's header in front of a crowd of 18,872.

That left Kenny Jackett's men second in League One as Plymouth remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

It was a first half bossed by the home side with the goal eventually arriving in the 22nd minute through Curtis.

The Irishman applied the final touch as Jamal Lowe burst through and cut the ball ball following a lovely ball forward from Gareth Evans.

A stinging early drive from Evans was tipped over in the 13th minute and Freddie Ladapo then fired wide when well placed in the 22nd minute, with the Plymouth man claiming a foul after colliding with Craig MacGillivray.

Seconds later the ball was in the net as the Blues made their dominance count.

The only black mark in the first 45 minutes was Oli Hawkins being forced off through injury for Brett Pitman.

There was a late flurry from the visitors as ex-Pompey man Stuart O'Keefe saw his header deflected wide and Gary Sawyer couldn't direct his shot on target from the ensuing corner.

But Pompey could feel happy with their display at the interval and perhaps should've had more than a goal for their dominance.

There were four changes at the break with Pompey sending on Christian Burgess and Nathan Thompson for Jack Whatmough and Anton Walkes. Plymouth introduced danger man Graham Carey and Ruben Lameiras.

Tom Naylor drove a shot not too far over six minutes after the restart, with Curtis doing likewise five minutes later.

But Plymouth were brighter and showed that as Carey was given space to drive an effort off the post in the 58th minute.

Normal service was resumed 60 seconds later, though, with Pompey with back on the front foot, as Lowe's deflected shot was pushed out by Macey and then a last-ditch foot from Sawyer denied Lowe a free shot at goal five yards out. Burgess headed the ensuing corner just over.

Lowe wasn't to be denied in the 63rd minute, though, as he had the simple task of heading home at the back post from a peach of a cross from Curtis on the left touchline.

Danger man Lowe then nearly got his side's third as he flashed a volley over from Evans' cross.

But Curtis got his second with 21 minutes left as he won the ball from Sawyer, drove into the box and blazed home a finish from a tight angle.

That meant the home fans could enjoy the rest of the afternoon sunshine with their side comfortable and man-of-the-match Curtis pulling out the party tricks.
