Pompey are hoping to wrap up a loan deal for Wolves striker Joe Mason.
The Blues are aiming to land the 27-year-old before today's 5pm deadline after he's fallen down the pecking order at the Premier League outfit.
Kenny Jackett was the man to take the former Cardiff man to Molineux in 2016, for a fee said to be in the region of £3m.
Mason has been with MLS side Colorado Rapids on loan after agreeing a move in February.
The striker scored 22 goals in 60 league starts for Cardiff, which was followed up with eight in 39 Wolves appearances. He also had a stint on loan with Burton Albion last season.
Mason's existing contract runs until next summer.
