Andy Redman is adamant Pompey will not take a ‘crazy, big splash’ in the transfer market.
Ahead of the January transfer window resumption, the Blues board member and Tornante president insists the club won’t concentrate any transfer kitty on a single big-money signing.
We asked our Facebook followers for their opinion on the owners’ stance towards player recruitment.
And many agreed with Redman’s sentiment…
Glad to read we have owners with the club’s interests at heart.
Obviously budgets will have to increase a bit as we go up through the divisions, but no need to go crazy on huge transfers and contracts.
I’d rather see money pumped into our youth system and get it Category 1 standard.
If it stops the club running up huge debts we must go along with that.
My only proviso is spend the money wisely.
Have the club always done that in respect of players brought in?
Sensible and the right stance to have. No player is bigger than the club and we never want to return to those dark days again where we nearly died!
Well to stay in Championship we will need some quality and wages will increase. Money we haven't got.
At some point the owner will have to spend some money on players, we can't grow a Premier League team.

They'll have to change that stance in the summer if we go up. Otherwise we'll be straight back.
BUT – we do need a real number nine in support of Hawkins (how many goals in how many games compared to Pitman?.
It is great to have sensible owner and I’m more confident on the future than for a very long time.
We need another striker.
