Portsmouth fans have their say Brett Pitman’s Fratton Park future

Pompey fans have had their say on Brett Pitman’s Pompey future.

Last season’s top scorer, with 25 goals, has been playing second fiddle to fellow striker Oli Hawkins this term.

The former Bournemouth and Ipswich man has started only five games to date in League One this time around and failed to appear in the past three games in the division.

His current Blues situation was raised during the Portsmouth News’ latest edition of Pompey Talk.

And despite Kenny Jackett recognising that Pitman was growing frustrated with his lack of game time, reporter Will Rooney believed the club would be reluctant to let the player go in the January transfer window.

That led us to ask our followers on Facebook what they think will happen to the striker when the window opens again in the new year?

And here’s what they had to say on the matter…

Nigel Cole

He won’t go if we are in line to win the league.

At the end of his career he wants medal and titles.

If we drop a couple of places then he may go.

Richard Price

Proven goalscorer, scored 25 in one season and doesn't even get on the pitch.

He'll be off and there will be no shortage of takers.

Still think we would be top with the same points if he was playing and we'd have scored more goals, too.

Ron Johnson

Far better player than Hawkins who misses hatfulls of headers l feel sorry for the guy.

Barrie Jenkins

Someone will want a proven goalscorer and they are no doubt monitoring the situation and if a decent bid was placed then I can see PFC accepting.

But KJ has to get a better replacement than he did for Conor Chaplin.

So many dangers involved in this. Fair play to Brett Pitman though, he’s not making any noises, publicly that is.

Lorraine Wells

I imagine he is pretty fed up - his face said it all when he wasn't brought on during Tuesday's match.

I don't get why we are not playing him, though.

Oli does a particular job but he does runs out of steam.

Pitman has lots to offer us and I don't really understand why he is not being played this season - I feel for him.

We all know how ruthless Kenny can be!

Ant Coombes

We're top of the league and the ever improving Hawkins has 6 in 8 - yet people don't get why "Super Brett" isn't playing?

Ian Nisbeck

I would be sad to see him go, but understand why he might want to.

I just would not want him to go to a promotion rival.

Andrew McNelly

If the price is right let him go.

Hawkins has been in good form lately so he won't start.

Why drop someone who's scoring goals.

Just because he was scored loads doesn't mean he deserves to start.

I'd understand if we where losing games and he wasn't playing.

Ben Stewart

I'd take as much as we could and then look at the League Two top goalscorers and grab one.

Simples, save a few quid on wages too.

Also send Mason back.
