Pompey loanee Matt Casey is closing in on a Gosport Borough return.
The talented 18-year-old centre-back fractured his collarbone when making his Gosport bow in an FA Cup clash earlier in the campaign.
But he is now training again and will be a very important addition to the Borough ranks.
He’s on track to make a return in Gosport’s next game.
They host Taunton Town on Saturday, November 17 in the Southern League premier division south.
Borough player-boss Craig McAllister is looking forward to having the Pompey youngster back in his team after a very bright debut.
He said: ‘Matt Casey is now back from his fractured collarbone.
‘He’s going to be back with us.
‘The injury was really unfortunate because he came in and did really well for us in his only game.
‘Matt is back training, he’s been back for a few weeks, so we’ll see where he is in the next week or two.’
Casey is highly thought of Fratton Park.
He was handed a third year scholarship by Pompey in May 2018, following a good two-year spell within the club's under-18s.
Gosport are currently 14th in the league but have been struggling to get wins in recent weeks.
