SICILIAN businessman Joseph Cala has aspirations of making Pompey a top four Premier League club – if he becomes the club’s new owner.

Mr Cala told The News he would invest ‘whatever it takes’ to achieve promotion from the Championship.

He said: ‘I want Pompey to be one of the best clubs in the world.

‘If I am the owner I will do everything to make the club a success.

‘I feel the Championship is hell and the Premier League is heaven.

‘If you are in the Championship you have to invest heavily to get out.

‘It’s a really tough league and the first thing I will do if I am owner is ask the manager to tell me what he needs to go to the Premier League.

‘It takes passion and love. Why do fans go to watch matches? There’s a fire there and that’s what needs to be in the players and it needs to start with the owner.’
