TAL BEN HAIM is back in football after being handed a trial by former Pompey boss Harry Redknapp at QPR.

The Israeli defender has been without a club since leaving the Blues in August but was invited to train with the Premier League club this week.

Ben Haim became a controversial figure during his three-year stint at Fratton Park, where he picked up wages believed to be £36,000 a week.

Although Redknapp and Ben Haim never worked together at Pompey, the QPR boss was happy to give the 30-year-old a chance.

Redknapp said: ‘I am having a look at him, he’s a good defender, he’s a good lad and has a great attitude.

‘He looks very fit and I have let him come in and train. We will just see where we go in the next couple of weeks.’
