Charlton's injury concerns ahead of Pompey trip

Have your say

Paul Robinson warned Pompey’s League Two rivals: We will score a hatful soon.

Robinson knows his team need to show a more clinical edge after their 0-0 draw at York City on Saturday.

That made it their second successive goalless trip on the road after the stalemate at Hartlepool.

The lack of goals is a problem for Andy Awford’s side at present but Robinson believes the fact chances are being created is a positive.

And the Millwall loanee insisted once one strike goes in the goals will flow.

Robinson said: ‘If the performances weren’t there and we weren’t creating chances, I’d be really worried.

‘I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before the goals and wins arrive.

‘We’ll keep working hard and working hard on the training pitch.

‘Then one will come and I think when that does we will get a hatful.

‘The manager has been saying that to us.

‘We are creating chances and putting the effort in as a team.

If we are clinical and a bit more ruthless, I think the goals will start to flow.’

Robinson believes it is going to take a concerted effort throughout the team for Pompey to find their shooting boots.

A number of chances were passed up by players at Bootham Crescent.

Robinson counted himself among the men who need to be doing better.

He said: ‘You have to keep believing and keep putting in the performances.

‘If we are more ruthless from the front to the back, and that includes myself, it will improve.

‘I should have scored. It’s a team effort and the team takes responsibility.’
