Brian Howard saw Pompey booed off after their Brentford horror show and admitted: I would have joined in.
The Blues skipper pulled no punches with a damning assessment of Pompey’s woeful 1-0 home defeat as they failed to create a single genuine chance.
While the Fratton faithful have stuck with the side all season, their patience finally snapped at the final whistle, with boos ringing around the ground at a miserable display.
And Howard felt the supporters were well within their rights to vent their anger before hinting at some heated discussions within the dressing room after the game.
He said: ‘We got booed off and rightly so. If I’d have been a punter, I’d have been going nuts.
‘They’ve been fantastic to us and are probably the best set of fans I’ve ever played for but we aren’t doing enough for them.
‘We will keep what was said in the dressing room in house.
‘But there was a lot of disappointment and a lot of people telling other people they weren’t good enough. It’s exactly right.
‘It was lacklustre. There was no passion and no pride.
‘Coming from me, first and foremost as captain, I’ve got to show more passion, pride and willingness to win.
‘I think the other lads in there have got to hold their hands up as well.
‘I need to have a look in the mirror and hopefully the other lads will do the same to put it right as soon as possible.’
