The club tweeted: "Careful Harry doesn’t leave you halfway through to join @bbcstrictly"

It's a reference to Redknapp's decision to quit Saints for his 'spiritual home' of Fratton Park in December 2005.

The 71-year-old had taken over at Saints in 2004 having left Pompey but was unable to prevent relegation.

With the club in the Championship Redknapp went the other way and re-joined Pompey who he led to Premier League survival before building a squad which saw the club win the FA Cup for the second time in their history.

The tweet from Southampton has been shared more than 4,000 times and liked by over 16,000 people.
