MICHAEL DRENNAN is set to extend his stay at Pompey.

The Aston Villa striker’s existing loan spell came to a close after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to York.

But Richie Barker wants to keep the 20-year-old at Fratton Park for the rest of the season.

Drennan has made three starts and two substitute appearances in his time at Fratton Park.

Barker said: ‘The loan is up and we’ll have a conversation with him.

‘He’s been with us and it’s better to have someone like that.

‘We want to keep him here.’

Meanwhile, Barker dismissed talk of a bust-up with Thery Racon, after the Frenchman walked out of Fratton Park before Saturday’s game.

He said: ‘After 1.30pm my focus is on the players in the squad. He wasn’t in the squad.’
