John Utaka is being lined up with a move to Montpellier.
The News understands that reports the French club are keen on the Nigerian are accurate.
Utaka is out of contract in the summer and Pompey are believed to be ready to cash in on him for a fee of around £500,000 before Monday’s transfer deadline.
The forward is one of the Blues’ highest wage-earners and his potential exit would increase the chances of Pompey bringing in new faces after chief executive David Lampitt vowed that any January sales would mean replacements being made.
A £7m signing from French club Rennes in 2007, Utaka has flattered to deceive for the majority of his Pompey career.
However, the 29-year-old has been one of the Blues’ top performers this season and has netted in their previous two matches.
