November ended as it started, with a 2-1 Fratton Park defeat.
However, there were some eye-catching performances in between as Pompey endured a majority of highs among the inevitable lows.
And we are giving the Fratton faithful an opportunity to select their player of the month.
For October you chose Christian Burgess in recognition of some impressive displays, particularly at Leyton Orient and Cambridge United.
On that occasion, Conor Chaplin was named runner-up having netted in consecutive matches and laid on an assist for Kyle Bennett at Plymouth.
Neither, though, make the shortlist of five drawn up by The News to pinpoint a winner for November.
Instead fans are asked to select from Carl Baker, Gareth Evans, Kal Naismith, Danny Rose and Michael Smith.
Baker did not start the disappointing FA Cup defeat against Wycombe, yet has been an ever-present in the league campaign, turning in some sterling performances.
The experienced midfielder weighed in with two succulent late goals in the 4-0 victory over Mansfield and also put in a man-of-the-match showing at Cheltenham.
Gareth Evans is a whole-hearted, hard-working player wherever he lines up in Paul Cook’s side.
Although right midfield remains his preference, he continues to give his all in the unfamiliar role of right-back and scored in the superb 3-1 victory at Luton.
Kal Naismith has experienced plenty of highs and lows in his Fratton career, particularly during the current campaign.
However, the month of October saw a stunning last-gasp winner over Bristol Rovers in the Checkatrade Trophy, a fierce right-foot effort at Luton and an assist against Mansfield.
Meanwhile, Danny Rose has made an impressive return to the first-team in the absence of the suspended Amine Linganzi.
The tireless midfielder has been an essential component of the Blues’ engine room.
Finally, Michael Smith has appeared from deep storage to net in three successive matches.
The striker is slowly beginning to win over the doubters following a poor start to the season and establish himself ahead of Chaplin.
