Andre Green is set to complete a loan switch to Pompey within the next 24 hours.
The Aston Villa talent is expected to train with Kenny Jackett’s squad on Thursday ahead of the clash with Plymouth Argyle at Fratton Park on Saturday.
Solihull-born Green is a 20-year-old winger, who can also operate behind the striker in a number 10 role.
Standing 5ft 11in tall, he has made four appearances for Steve Bruce’s Villans this season after impressing in pre-season.
However, the former Manchester United centre-back is now ready to let the attacker gain some game time away from Villa Park.
Green joined Aston Villa’s academy at the age of nine and has England caps at every age group from under-16 to under-20.
He made his Premier League debut against Spurs on March 13, 2016 at the age of 17.
Only Jimmy Brown, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, Gareth Barry and Jonathan Bewers have represented the Birmingham club at a younger age.
Green notched his first – and only – goal for the Villans against Norwich City at the beginning of last season.
A hamstring injury then stalled his progress. He has now totalled 31 appearances for Villa.
