Portsmouth Academy fall to Swindon loss despite a late rally

Pompey couldn't have asked for a better start and took the lead on two minutes.

With Bognor having no game, Bradley Lethbridge lined up for his parent club and broke the deadlock on two minutes when he headed Josh Flint's corner home.

However, the Robins were level nine minutes later when a visiting forward was left unmarked at the back post and converted. 

Swindon moved in front in the 16th minute when a cutback from the byline was slotted in from close range.

Things got worse for Kelly's side on 28 minutes. They failed to deal with a ball over the top and a Robins striker latched on to it and slotted home.

The visitors extended their advantage in the 31st minute when a Swindon player was left unmarked at a corner and headed his effort into the back of the net.

More misery was piled on the Blues when the Robins grabbed a fifth a minute later.

Pompey improved in the second period but it took them until 83 minutes to reduce the arrears through Oscar Johnston. 

Four minutes later Freddie Read headed in at the near post from Flint's corner. 

Lethbridge's thunderbolt gave the hosts real hope they could snatch a draw on 89 minutes but time ran out.
