Portsmouth fans rejoice as Watford, Reading and Bristol City-linked defender reveals Fratton Park ambitions
And it appears his desire to fulfil those dreams with the Blues has gone down well with the Fratton faithful.
Clarke has been a massive hit at Pompey after Paul Cook initially brought him in on loan in the summer of 2015.

Hide AdSince then he has made his move to Fratton Park permanent, racking up 139 appearances in the process, and firmly-establishing himself as a mainstay in Kenny Jackett's League One table-toppers.
His performances with the start & crescent on his chest have attracted many admiring glances from other clubs '“ including Watford, Reading, Bristol City and Brighton.
The Blues rebuffed enquiries for his services over the summer as they were determined to keep hold of their prized-asset.
And it looks like their resolve will be rewarded with Clarke, who signed a a new deal with the club earlier this year, keen to continue his Pompey association into the Championship and beyond.

Quite a remarkable player. How many centre-backs have the skills that Matt has on the ball?
Quick feet, a sharp player's brain and so dominant and consistent.
I think he also helps bring the best out of Jack Whatmough.

If we go up then I think he will stay. If not, then he will leave. He is better than League One. Â

Absolutely top draw of a player!!
