They’ll also have had to spend their well-earned cash to following the Blues on the road for their midweek trip to Wales.
So spare a thought for the 2,413 supporters who had to endure another sorry performance from Pompey as their Championship struggles continued.
Many would have been forgiven for heading home at half-time after a shambolic opening 45 minutes from John Mousinho’s men guaranteed a fifth league defeat of the season. But they stayed to the death as their tremendous loyalty was tested to the limited by another below-par performance this term.
The Blues’ return to the Championship was meant to be the start of an exciting new era. But it’s proving anything but as the team continues to struggle with the step up.
Pompey go again of Friday night with the visit of Sheffield Wednesday to Fratton Park. It’s an automatic chance to right the wrongs of Tuesday night and the ideal opportunity to repay the Fratton faithful’s devotion to the cause.
