Pompey’s attacking midfielder believes there’s no reason his team can’t subject the Premier League big boys to more misery in the FA Cup tomorrow.

Cannon knows the size of the task ahead for Kenny Jackett’s men as his club look for their first win over the Gunners since 1958.

But the 23-year-old feels there are factors in the Blues’ favour, including the raucous backing he side can expect from a sell-out crowd.

Cannon said: ‘It’s always good to play against a big side - especially here at Fratton Park.

‘With our fans it’s going to be lively. It’s going to be a great atmosphere.

‘So we want to put on a good performance and there’s no saying we can’t win the game.

‘The fans alway show up and I’m expecting them to be lively.

‘We definitely believe we can win the game.

People don’t need to get it twisted. There’s world-class footballers for them, but when you go into the game it’s 11 v 11 at the end of the day.

‘If everyone puts in a good performance there’s no reason why we can’t win.’

Cannon is back from injury and knows what it’s like to spring a FA Cup surprise after holding Premier League Spurs to a 2-2 draw at the fifth-round stage while with Rochdale two years ago.

He added: ‘I’ve played Tottenham twice when we got the replay against them for Rochdale.

‘I’ve played Stoke, too, when they were in the Premier League.

‘There’s been a few games against Championship clubs.

‘They are tough games, but at the end of the day it’s just a game of football.’
