Despite training with the Blues first-team squad this morning following a glute injury, he’s unlikely to feature against Salop.

Instead, manager Kenny Jackett is focusing on getting the attacking midfielder fit and available for next week, with games against Exeter 9Tuesday) and Fleetwood (Saturday, February 22) on the horizon.

Cannon missed last weekend’s 2-0 win at Tranmere and the midweek loss (1-0) against Coventry.

He’ll be the only absentee, though, from the squad that made the trip to St Andrew's on Tuesday night.

Jackett said: ‘Andy’s improving.

‘He was out training this morning but I wouldn’t think he’ll make Saturday.

‘If tomorrow morning he really does feel a hell of a lot better, then that would be great.

‘But it looks like time’s running out for him, and while I think there’s not too much wrong, realistically he’ll be back and available for contention next week.’

Meanwhile, Shrewsbury have been dealt a blow in the build-up to Saturday’s game with news that influential midfielder Ollie Norburn is likely to miss the rest of the season.

He picked up a knee injury in Salop’s FA Cup fourth-round draw against Liverpool and hasn’t been able to feature since.

Ricketts will also be without chief creator Shaun Whalley following the hamstring injury he picked up in the replay at Anfield.

Brad Walker is also absent with a hamstring injury.

January arrival Josh Vela won’t be risked as he recoveries from an injury picked up while playing for former club Hibs before Christmas.
