Potter has shown on a number of occasions this season he’s not afraid to throw in the host of promising players coming through the ranks at the Amex Stadium.

Aaron Connolly and Tariq Lamptey have been among those to impress this season.

And now there may be a chance for Cochrane to make his mark, with the 20-year-old picking up one senior outing to date against Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup this season.

Potter explained throwing in the man who’s earned praise from former Blues and Brighton academy coach Mikey Harris is a consideration.

He told the Brighton & Hove Independent: ‘It's a game we want to try and win of course and we want to be competitive and try to finish the season as well as we can.

‘If we go up there and be experimental it could be trouble.

‘Alex was on the bench because Bernardo was struggling with his eye but also because Alex deserved to be there.

‘He has done really well and he has a fantastic attitude with us and he has quality.

‘So that's another good thing from his perspective. So we will see how we go and see what we have to do to try and win the game against a difficult opponent.’
