The 10-man Blues slipped to a 1-0 loss against the Imps at Fratton Park this evening.

Jack Whatmough’s 30th-minute straight red card ultimately gave Kenny Jackett’s side a mountain to climb.

Pompey were adamant the centre-back shouldn't have been given his marching orders for his challenge on Jorge Grant – but referee Sam Purkiss thought it was dangerous play.

The Blues defended doggedly but Lincoln’s numerical advantage eventually told when Morgan Rogers broke the deadlock in the 79th minute.

However, Ronan Curtis went close to netting an equaliser moments later when his header from Daniels’ corner was cleared off the line.

Daniels, making his debut off the bench after signing from Shrewsbury on Saturday, believes Curtis’ effort crossed the line.

And the ex-Bournemouth man also felt the Blues should have been awarded a penalty for handball when the game was goalless.

Daniels said: ‘I was in line with it and thought it was maybe half-a-foot over the line. I thought it was pretty conclusive but the assistant referee next to me didn’t think so.

‘It was a great header from Ronan and I thought it was over the line. I think most of the team thought it was over the line.

‘At the end of the day, it’s the referee's decision.

‘We didn’t get the rub of the green. The referee didn’t give us any decisions that I think we deserved.

‘I didn't see the sending off because I was warming up and missed it.

‘As I turned around, the referee pulled out the red card. Everyone has said they didn’t think it was a red card so I'm pretty sure that we will be appealing it.

‘There also looked like there was a handball when I was warming up – another that the ref missed.’

Pompey’s defeat meant they suffered back-to-back league loses for the first time in two years.

The Blues slipped to a 4-0 reverse against Hull City on Saturday.
