The Blues booked their place in the last 32 of the competition with a game to spare in their group, allowing boss Kenny Jackett to field a youthful side in their last outing against West Ham United’s under-21s.

The manager is expected to make wholesale changes again tonight, with Pompey facing some tough League One fixtures in the days to come.

However, he is likely to utilise his fringe players from the start rather than the youngsters as the Blues look to extend their interest in this season’s Trophy.
