Conor Chaplin will tomorrow complete his long-anticipated switch to Coventry.
The News understands the striker is scheduled for a Sky Blues medical and will sign ahead of Friday’s loan deadline.
Under terms of the agreement, the 21-year-old departs for the Ricoh Arena on loan, with the move turned into a permanent deal in January.
That ensures Pompey receive a fee for Chaplin, who is out of contract at the season’s end.
Providing there is no late hitch, it will finally bring a satisfactory conclusion to a transfer saga spanning almost two months.
Chaplin has become increasingly frustrated over delays in the switch, culminating in his insistence he was not in the ‘right frame of mind’ for last weekend’s trip to Doncaster.
However, Kenny Jackett has been consistently clear that the striker would not be allowed to depart until a replacement had been identified.
Now, following the recruitment of Andre Green and with the Blues still in the market for additional firepower, Chaplin has his wish.
