David Wheeler is a new injury concern for Pompey as they go to Crawley for the EFL Trophy match tonight (7.45pm).

The winger is set to miss the next two games after picking up an ankle problem against Gillingham.

That means the Blues have three of their wide men missing for that period, with Andre Green (knee) out and Ronan Curtis away on international duty.

Louis Dennis is set for his Pompey bow in the Checkatrade Trophy meeting at Broadfield Stadium.

Dion Donohue ready for his first outing of the season after returning from  a hamstring issue.

Former Pompey defender Bondz N’Gala is poised to keep his place for Crawley.

The powerful centre-half has made seven appearances since joining in August as a free agent.

However, in-form ex-Hawks striker Ollie Palmer could be rested after seven goals in 12 league matches.

Definitely absent is club captain Jimmy Smith, who is sidelined for the remainder of the season with a knee cruciate ligament injury.

The Reds were also missing Joe McNerney and Josh Doherty from Saturday’s 2-0 win over Cambridge United.
