The Fratton faithful have called on Kenny Jackett to extend Dion Donohue’s Pompey stay.
Despite the midfielder’s injury problems this season, Blues fans want him to remain on the south coast.
The hapless Welshman has managed just four appearances this season.
He is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury he picked up in last week’s 2-2 draw with Burton.
The 25-year-old certainly caught the eye when he was in Jackett’s starting XI, however.
His range of passing, in particular, impressed Pompey supporters.
He also had a decent maiden campaign at PO4, featuring 36 times mainly in a left-back role last term.
Jackett has insisted Donohue’s problems this season will not scupper his future at PO4.
He's out of contract this summer after arriving from Chesterfield for an undisclosed fee in August 2017 – although the Blues do hold the option for a further 12 months.
And a high proportion of fans would like to see Pompey take up that extra year.
On a poll on portsmouth.co.uk, 81 per cent of fans feel the former Everton youth player deserves an extension.
Meanwhile, on Facebook page Portsmouth FC – The News, a large proportion of supporters have also rallied behind the cultured left-footer.
Here’s what they had to say...
Yes! When he’s played, he gave our side that little bit more stability in the midfield! Definitely deserves a new deal…
Now we understand why his form badly dipped at the end of last season, he had good reason and shouldn’t have played.
But it’s all there too see his quality and he was outstanding in the few games back before another injury, its a no brainer now, offer him another deal.
Definitely. Some excellent corner taking from him
Yes he should
Yeah definitely without question
In fairness to Dion, he's probably no more injury prone than anyone else. But he's just been really unlucky after contracting glandular fever during the summer, and suffered a few irritating injuries this season as a result of that.
As he was just beginning to look back to his best when he unfortunately got injured again in the Burton game last week, as he did really well in all the games he played until then. So my personal view would be to give him until the New Year to get fully fit again and see where he is then.
Needs to stay injury free.
