The ex-midfielder, who established cult hero status during his one season at Fratton Park in 2009-10, has said he’d happily assist with training sessions and even help out on match days if the Blues needed it.

Jackett has already turned to former Watford team-mate Nigel Gibbs for help as he prepares to temporarily step aside from his normal duties on Thursday.

The Pompey boss is expected to need around two weeks rest and recuperation following an elective and preventative procedure related to a mole on his arm – and ex-Leeds United, Millwall, Swansea and Reading assistant manager Gibbs has been drafted in to work alongside caretaker boss Joe Gallen and first-team coach Jake Wigley.

However, that appointment hasn’t stopped O’Hara, who was the Blues’ player of the year during his season on loan from Spurs, from making himself available if required.

The 34-year-old tweeted on Monday: ‘Hoping for a speedy recovery for Kenny, if the club need any extra help at the training ground or extra body to help with training and match days, I’d be happy to come in and help while Kenny recovers x.’

O’Hara made 29 appearances for Pompey – including the 2010 FA Cup final, which proved to be his last appearance for the club.

His last club was National League South side Billericay, whom he managed for just over a year before his exit in December.

O’Hara is currently working as a pundit for talkSPORT and Sky Sports.
