New head coach Danny Cowley has already implemented parts of his football philosophy in a short space of time.
Different formations have been used, alongside a mantra of fast attacking football and playing out from the back.
Some players, let’s be honest, have adapted better than others.
And with Cowley and his brother Nicky earmarked for a long-term Fratton Park stay, they will naturally look to bring in their own players to suit their needs.
But what does that mean for the curreny squad?
Here, Freddie Webb looks at each first-teamer to decide whether they have a future at Fratton Park beyond this season.
Some players, let’s be honest, have adapted better than others.
5. James Bolton (Right-back/centre-back)
Age: 26. Total appearances: 53. Stats this season: 20 appearances, 1 goal, 0 assists. Contract Expiry Date: June 2022 Verdict: From his arrival at Pompey in 2019, Bolton has been in and out of contention. He has filled in admirably, though, whenever called upon, even when played out of position. But with Johnson being a regular at right-back, and Haji Mnoga a possibility, the defender might be the odd man out if the squad needs trimming to allow others to join.

6. Haji Mnoga (Right-back)
Age: 19. Total appearances: 13. Stats this season: 9 appearances, 1 goal, 1 assist Contract Expiry Date: June 2021, with a one-year extension option Verdict: The former England Youth international has showcased his ability during his cameo appearances for the first team. The youngster needs to hone his skills, though, with the help of regular game time. That might have to come via a loan move next season.

7. Lee Brown (Left-back)
Age: 30. Total appearances: 105. Stats this season: 33 appearances, 0 goals, 3 assists Contract Expiry Date: June 2022 Verdict: Pompey have missed Brown’s consistency while he’s been sidelined through injury. Despite often being on the wrong end of supporter criticism, the left-back adds much needed steadiness to the back-four, and has facilitated a long-standing partnership with Ronan Curtis. His character in the dressing room is a real plus point for the Cowleys, but his position in the team could come under threat in the summer.

8. Charlie Daniels (Left-back)
Age: 34. Total appearances: 17. Stats this season: 17 appearances, one goal, 0 assists Contract Expiry Date: June 2021 Verdict: Daniels came to Pompey in January with a wealth of Premier League pedigree. Yet, that experience has counted for little. Daniels has not created enough going forward and leaves gaps when he ventures further up the pitch. His age looks to have finally caught up with him and it's unlikely his current deal will be extended.
