First of all, we believe you are our first overseas Gaffer.

Thank you for the appointment, I still have a house in Gosport, but moved over here with my Maltese girlfriend in 2018.

I came back for the 2019 Checkatrade Trophy final, travelling up on Mark Mudie’s coach, and also had a ticket for April’s postponed final against Salford.

I was going to be at Wembley with my daughter, Paige, who lives in Spain. She’s a big Pompey fan and was once mascot for a match.

Living in Malta, I can still watch every game on iFollow. I’ve heard the comments about it, but it has never been a problem for me, perfect picture every time!

What did you make of that result?

It was an outstanding performance and, looking ahead, I feel there is loads more to look forward to.

Kenny Jackett has to be praised for the formation and the work carried out on the training ground. That display was stunning.

I get a bit frustrated with him on the sidelines with his arms closed, I want to see passion, but fair play to him. He has taken some criticism and is now proving people wrong.

If you cannot get behind the manager, what’s the point? This is our club, I just can’t be doing with the doom and gloom from some.

I woke up Sunday morning with a bit of a headache after too much gin and beer. Well, you got to celebrate a Pompey win!

You’ve even got a ‘positive’ Pompey Facebook page haven’t you?

Yes, it’s called Pompey Fans Through Good Times and Bad Times.

It has 136 members and is a mixture of all ages of support. Best of all, it’s not people who rant and rave and shove it in your face how ‘Jackett has to go’.

I don’t want that in my life, there’s enough to be worried about at the moment.

We’ve had two great results away from home in the last week, let’s be positive about Pompey at the moment.

Who was your man of the match?

I thought John Marquis was brilliant. With Ellis Harrison out injured, this is now his time. I believe we’re going to see the best of him in this system.

In the previous formation and hoofball, it was difficult for him, he was asked to do everything on his own, and would run out of steam.

Now he has company in Marcus Harness and we are seeing more of what he can do, while Harness is also relishing his new role.

As a lone striker, Harrison is better, he does more work and is fitter. Now we’re seeing what Marquis can do in a pair.
