Craig McAllister has challenged his Gosport Borough players to get on a winning run in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division.

Borough travel to Swindon Supermarine looking to chalk up a second successive win.

The 3-1 home win against Hendon halted Borough's slide down the league.

McAllister insists the club, who sit 15th, now need to look up rather than down.

'It was very important for us to get back to winning ways,' said the manager.

'We played well and it was probably the best we have played this season.

'I've known all along that the team always had that performance in them.

'It was a performance full of desire and commitment.

'Our work-rate was terrific and we got ourselves onto the front foot.

'The players gave everything and we could have scored five or six goals.

'However, we won't allow ourselves to get too carried away.'

The win took Borough to 19 points and lifted them up two places to 15th in the league.

McAllister is demanding his team build on that performance.

'They have proved what they are capable of and set the bar for future performances.

'It is important that we back it up with another win.'

Borough are without new midfield signing George Bennett, who was sent off on his debut at Farnborough.

As a result the 23-year-old has to serve a one-match ban, starting Saturday.

Assistant manager Matt Tubbs accepts his absence will be a blow.

'George played a huge part in our win against Hendon,' said Tubbs.

'At six-foot-two he gives a bigger presence and technically he is very good on the ball.’
