How many substitutions Portsmouth, Hull, Charlton, Ipswich, Sunderland the rest of League One have averaged this season amid increase to five per match

The EFL today voted to increase the number of substitutions that can be made per team in matches for the rest of the season.

Starting from this weekend, clubs in the Championship, League One and League Two will see the number of changes that are allowed from three to five.

Regulation 33.4 has been amended to permit sides in the third tier to name up to seven substitutes in their matchday squad, with five able to take to the pitch from the bench.

The rule change comes amid a condensed fixture list after the 2020-21 season started a month later than usual because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

But which clubs in League One are likely to take full advantage of the rule change – and which sides may still opt not to make the maximum amount of substitutions allowed?

We’ve crunched the numbers to see how many substitutions each club has averaged throughout the season so far.
