The left-back has missed Pompey’s past four games after suffering a hamstring problem in the warm-up ahead of the Lincoln game on November 3.

His misplaced header allowed Plymouth to open the scoring against the Blues at Home Park on Monday night.

However, the former Walsall ace has been a steady performer in the two other matches he’s featured in.

Brown’s potential return will no doubt give manager Kenny Jackett a welcome selection headache as he looks to end Crewe’s recent good form in the league.

Ryan Williams will also be available for the Fratton Park game, despite limping off late against the Pilgrims with a groin injury.

Meanwhile, Ronan Curtis has been reunited with his Pompey team-mates after being away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

He wasn’t able to feature due to paperwork but will line up for the Blues against Crewe.

Michael Jacobs remains absent, though, with a knee injury.

He’s due to return to training in a couple of weeks.
