Jackett hails Portsmouth’s response ahead of Rochdale trip

Have your say

Kenny Jackett saluted the response of his Pompey troops following his side’s draw with Wycombe.

The Blues surrendered top spot in League One after last Saturday’s 2-2 stalemate.

Jackett felt the Blues weren’t as constructive as they could have been in the middle of the park against the Chairboys.

But the boss has been delighted with Pompey’s reaction during training this week ahead of the trip to Rochdale on Saturday.

‘I’ve been pleased with the response this week,’ said Jackett.

‘We’ve had a free week and worked hard in training.

‘As ever, they have applied themselves well and tried hard to work out what we’re looking at.

‘There’re a lot of things we’re doing right but parts of our game we need to improve on and we have been focusing on those this week.

‘But I’ve always said to the players I want to build on what we’ve got and improve, not necessarily replace.

‘Through the middle of the pitch we’re just looking to be a bit more constructive and cohesive.’
