The midfielder delivered an energetic and eye-catching display in the Blues’ FA Cup fourth-round success against the Championship Tykes at Fratton Park.

Cannon was forced off in the 90th minute with a groin injury, however, and replaced by Gareth Evans.

But Jackett is hopeful the former Rochdale man will be fit for Pompey’s League One trip to Lincoln on Tuesday.

The boss said: ‘He felt his groin. It’s not too bad and hopefully he’s okay for Tuesday.’

Cannon’s made 21 appearances for Pompey since arriving from Spotland in January last year.
