Kenny Jackett reveals impact of FA Cup run on Portsmouth transfer kitty
Kenny Jackett admitted Pompey’s FA Cup run could finance the arrival of a new player.
But the Blues boss is not looking to bring in a new face for the sake of it over the final week of the transfer window.
Saturday’s FA Cup win over Barnsley saw Jackett’s side bag £180,000 in prize money for reaching the fifth round. That took their haul to £615,000 this season with EFL Trophy prize money and TV revenue from progressing.
Jackett admitted that can make a difference to his transfer kitty but he’s happy with his squad options.
He said: ‘Whatever it sustains going forward, you can directly buy a player with it. It does help the club there’s no doubt about that,
‘We took three players at the start of the January, which, if you can is the best way to do it.
‘If we’d got it wrong it would be a long way back at this stage.
‘After that we’re looking for big players out of the physio room.
‘It’s quiet at the moment. We may strengthen one area and we may not.
‘It’s not like we’re crying out for a front-line player. Sometimes you can’t cover everything, you’d need your best players to stay fit.
‘I won’t say it’s going to be nothing but it will be minimal.’
