But the Blues boss isn’t ruling out changes to his options moving forward, despite his recruitment plans being decimated amid the coronavirus crisis.

Jackett’s men look certain to be playing League One football for a fourth consecutive season next term, with the season expected to be ended next week.

A number of options are on the table to decide how promotion and relegation will be decided - none of which will see Pompey playing Championship football next term.

Like every club in the EFL an uncertain future lies ahead at Fratton Park amid the coronavirus crisis, with Jackett admitting long-term contracts and paying significant fees are out the window with the club looking at a huge hole in their balance sheet.

Pompey currently have 17 players contracted next term with the agreements of eight players coming to a close this summer, while loan stays for Steve Seddon, Sean Raggett, Cameron McGeehan and Ross McCrorie are up.

Despite facing the prospect of a much smaller number of players to work with, Jackett is confident over the players he has at his disposal.

He said: ‘It’s a good 17, we have a good squad.

‘Will there be some changes? We have to wait to see how the season looks.

‘But if you’re looking at the players we have contracted, it’s a good squad and I’m very confident of those players.

‘There isn’t anyone who’s not going to come back hungry or committed to the club.’

There are many unanswered questions for what lies ahead in the EFL over the coming months, but Jackett feels he will be afforded some flexibility to add to his squad in the coming months.

With the likelihood of future being played behind closed doors for the foreseeable future, the Pompey knows he may have to work on a tighter budget as will masses of other outfits, but he feels he will be afforded flexibility from the football authorities to do so.

He added: ‘It’s hard to tell. We’re waiting to see what the conclusion of this season and how next season fits in.

‘Some of it’s timing and whether it’s behind closed doors. Then because of a delayed start do we keep the window open until the start of January. These things are to be decided.

‘Because they haven’t there’s unlikely to be much movement in us bringing in additions.

‘Then once we come out of lockdown and begin making strides towards normality and get next season going, we can see what the landscape is and adapt then.

‘When it comes to bringing in players I think the powers that be will be sympathetic to helping clubs trade and shutting windows when it won’t help people.

‘I’m sure there will be some sympathy and fit around the clubs to shape their squads.

‘If you’re a football club owner trying to plan budgets and crowds it’s hard to do.

‘But from a manager’s view I’m confident of the group I have.’
