Long-time champions Portsmouth learn two of their EFL Trophy opponents

And now they know two of their opposition in the Southern Group stage for the 2020-21 competition.

It has today been announced Kenny Jackett’s side will face Colchester and Southend in Group A.

The final opponent will be unveiled on Tuesday at 1.30pm, when there will be a live draw on talkSPORT 2.

That will an under-23 team from either Arsenal, Brighton, Chelsea, Fulham, Norwich, Southampton, West Brom and West Ham.

The opening group match of the EFL Trophy will take place on September 8/9.

The competition will no longer be referred to as the Leasing.com Trophy, having pulled out of their sponsorship following one season.

Meanwhile, Pompey are still waiting to learn when their 2019-20 final against Salford will take place, following its April cancellation during the coronavirus crisis.
