No positive Covid-19 test results for Portsmouth or Oxford ahead of play-off clash following latest round

Pompey have confirmed they’ve had no positive coronavirus tests results following the latest round of EFL testing.

All players and staff members’ tests have come back negative as they gear up for their League One play-off semi-final first leg with Oxford United next week.

Oxford have also had no positive tests, nor have Fleetwood or Wycombe – who meet in the other semi-final.

A statement read: ‘Portsmouth Football Club can confirm that nobody from the club has tested positive for Covid-19 in the latest round of testing.

‘The EFL can confirm that 2,858 players and club staff from the 24 Championship clubs were tested over the course of the past week, with three individuals testing positive from two clubs.‘Those players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to enter training ground facilities.

‘The EFL can confirm that 297 players and club staff were tested from four League One clubs over the course of the past week with zero individuals testing positive.

‘The EFL can confirm that 271 players and club staff were tested from four League Two clubs over the course of the past week with zero individuals testing positive.

‘As the fixture programme resumes, the EFL will make a central announcement of Covid-19 test results every Wednesday to continue to support competition integrity and transparency.

‘No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League.’

Two members from both the Pompey and Oxford camp tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month but have made full recoveries.
