But it’s not ‘one or the other’ between current triallists Duncan Turnbull and Taylor Seymour.

Giant American stopper Turnbull continues to train with the Blues.

The Chicago-based talent was set for a reserve outing against Aston Villa on Tuesday, but the game at Bognor’s Nyewood Lane was postponed.

Because of the recent wet weather, Jackett conceded it might be difficult to find a pitch to run the rule over Turnbull, 21, in a match scenario.

Nevertheless, the Pompey boss still covets a keeper to provide support for Alex Bass and Craig MacGillivray.

Jackett said: ‘It was disappointing for Duncan that the game was called off and he didn’t play, but he’s still been training with us.

‘It looks hard, difficult for us (to organise a reserve game). You're looking at the weather forecast more than anything.

‘The game was changed from Havant to Bognor and it’s not anyone else’s fault. We need a bit of calm so we can get out on the pitches.

‘We would like to see him in a game, but we will see.

‘Are we looking for a number-three keeper? Yes, we are. It all depends on a lot of things.

‘For example, what their expectations are, but we are looking for a third keeper, definitely.’

Seymour has been with Pompey since before Christmas, featuring in several reserve and academy games.

The Lewes keeper is a second-year scholar, though, and would still be eligible to play for the youth team as an over-age keeper next season.

It would primarily be academy chief Mark Kelly who decides if the Blues offer Seymour a deal – although goalkeeping coach John Keeley will also be involved.

Jackett added: ‘Taylor Seymour is 18 and would be under-19 next season, so he could still play in the youth team.

‘There's a consideration for him to do that. I don’t think that it is one or the other.

‘Mark Kelly and our youth department would lean on the decision more, although John Keeley would have a say.’
