The clash is the start of a tough run of League One fixtures for Kenny Jackett’s side from now until Christmas.

The Blues also face promotion-rivals Ipswich, Fleetwood and Hull and results could well define their ambitions for the season.

First, though, Pompey have a tough assignment against a Posh side who sit third in the table.

Darren Ferguson’s men boast plenty of attacking riches, with the likes of Siriki Dembele and Jonson Clarke-Harris danger-men.

Yet the Blues themselves have been potent going forward this season and will be aiming to be back firing on all cylinders against Peterborough after losing 1-0 at Blackpool on Tuesday.

What’s more, fans will be back inside Fratton Park for the first time in nine months.

Some 2,000 spectators will be in the stands and hoping to see Pompey deliver a victory.
