The News understands the defender is not someone the Blues are looking to bring in ahead of the January transfer window deadline.

Kenny Jackett was this week linked with the 23-year-old and was reportedly ready to compete with the likes of Cardiff, Birmingham, Huddersfield and Blackburn for his signature.

But no such move for the left-footed, ball-playing centre-back is on the agenda at this moment.

Pompey were keen to add a new left-sided centre-back to their ranks in the summer and signed Rasmus Nicolaisen on a season-long loan from FC Midtjylland in September.

There were doubts about his Pompey future beyond January but he will now stay until the current campaign is completed.

The Blues were also forced to look for a new left-back this month, after Cam Pring’s return to parent club Bristol City.

Jules, who has played 19 times for League Two Walsall this term, has been utilised in that position in recent weeks.

However, Jackett landed Charlie Daniels on a free transfer at the weekend – and he will now complete with Lee Brown for the left-back berth.

Daniels is currently one of three January signings made by Pompey this month, with loan deals for Harvey White (Spurs) and George Byers (Spurs) also struck.

The Blues are keen on Torino midfielder Michel Ndary Adopo but that move could be scuppered by newly-introduced Brexit laws.
