The Blues stopper was forced to watch on from the stands as a foot injury kept him out of the 4-0 friendly win over Gosport at Privett Park on Tuesday evening.

Bass sustained the knock on what proved to be an afternoon to forget for him in the Carabao Cup first round penalties win at Stevenage last weekend.

The 22-year-old, who was replaced by Craig MacGillivray at half time in the cup clash, suffered the injury in the build up to Boro's second goal.

But the Blues boss did not believe it had a bearing on Bass’ below-par display at Stevenage.

And Jackett confirmed the knock is not serious and he expects him to be back training by Monday at the very latest.

He told The News: ‘Bass has a knock on his foot, the one he came out for the second goal, it’s just a bit sore.

‘I would expect him to be training by next Monday at the latest.

‘He has not trained yet, maybe the back end of this week.

‘A knock on the foot, nothing serious has kept him out (against Gosport).

‘I don’t think so (impacted on Stevenage performance), he did have a knock but it wasn’t performance-related after that.

‘Sometimes when you go for a heavy challenge you feel it the next day.

‘It was one of those, it wasn’t something he necessarily felt at the time.’

Craig MacGillivray, who may have now leaped ahead of Bass in the battle to be the Blues No1, played the first 45 minutes at Gosport.
