Portsmouth duo nominated for Sky Bet's League One awards for February

Jackett is among four nominees for the manager of the month gong.

Meanwhile, defender Burgess has been shortlisted for the player of February accolade.

Fleetwood’s Joey Barton, Coventry boss Mark Robins and Karl Robinson (Oxford) join Jackett in the race for the managerial award.

The Blues boss Jackett guided his side to five wins from seven League One fixtures and a 12-3 goal differential.

But just like this season’s League one promotion race, he’s up against some stiff competition.

Barton’s Fleetwood enjoyed wins over Wycombe, Peterborough and Pompey as the Cod Army picked up 16 points from six unbeaten games.

Robins helped Coventry extend their unbeaten run into a third month as the Sky Blues collected 16 points from six matches played – including three from their 1-0 win against the Blues.

Meanwhile, Oxford secured 16 points from a possible 21 under Robinson’s charge.

Burgess is nominated for the player of the month award after overseeing a solid defensive performance that saw Pompey concede just three league goals last month.

But it wasn’t just the centre-back’s defending that caught the eye.

He also registered two goals (against Sunderland and Rochdale) plus an assist during February.

Standing in his way of the individual gong is MK Dons striker Rhys Healey, Rotherham front man Freddie Ladapo and yet another attacker – Oxford’s Matty Taylor.

Healey scored five goals in six games as he helped the Dons move away from the relegation zone.

The Millers’ Ladapo scored three goals in four substitute appearances across 85 minutes.

Taylor scored seven goals in as many games, while also claiming an assist.

The winners of both awards will be announced later this week.
