The Blues’ trip to Crewe was called off on Friday because of a frozen pitch at Gresty Road.

The game was one of seven cancelled in League One today, with Oxford and Lincoln quickly rearranging their home games with Wigan and Accrington respectively for tomorrow.

But in the matches that did go ahead, there were some notable results which will have pleased the Blues.

Indeed, MK Dons’ 1-0 victory at second-placed Hull will have raised a few eyebrows.

Meanwhile, previously high-flying Doncaster Rovers suffered a second-straight defeat as they went down 4-1 at Sunderland.

Hull’s form has been patchy in recent weeks, with Grant McCann’s side enjoying one win in four going into today’s KCOM Stadium clash against the Dons.

It hasn’t been enough to see them drop out of the automatic promotion spots.

But they’ll be extremely nervous after today’s result, with Scott Fraser scoring the all-important winner for the visitors from the penalty spot on 80 minutes.

The Tigers remain second behind leaders Lincoln with 49 points from 28 matches played,

Yet they’re only ahead of third-placed Peterborough, who have two games in hand following the cancellation of their trip to Blackpool, on goal difference.

Meanwhile, Pompey remain just one point behind (48) with two matches also in hand.

With Hull losing, Doncaster had the chance to leapfrog the Blues & Co to become the Imps’ closest challengers.

However, Darren Moore’s side fluffed their lines at the Stadium of Light as the hosts ran out convincing winners.

Four goals from the inform Charlie Wyke inflicted the damage – a result which sees the Black Cats move into the play-off places with 44 points from 27 games played.

Rovers remain fifth on 48 points and with one game less played (25) than Pompey.

Yet they’ll be concerned by the fact they’ve now shipped seven goals in their past two outings.

Gillingham also boosted Kenny Jackett’s promotion hopes after they recorded a 3-2 win at Charlton.

Lee Bowyer’s side drop out of the play-off places as a result, with the Addicks now on 43 points from their 28 games played.

Pompey are next in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Bristol Rovers.

Today’s other results: Northampton 0-2 Burton; Plymouth 1-0 Fleetwood.
