Portsmouth fans snap up 35,000 tickets for EFL Trophy final against Salford on first day of sale

Fans have been swiftly snapping up their tickets for Pompey’s return to Wembley.

After going on sale on Friday, the club announced last night that 35,000 members of the Fratton faithful had already secured their seats for the Leasing.com Trophy final against Salford on Sunday, April 5.

It's a remarkable effort from supporters, with the Blues selling more than half their 50,300 allocation in just a matter of hours.

More than 42,000 fans were in attendance for last year’s final, with Kenny Jackett’s men beating Sunderland by a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw after extra-time.

As things stand, it's guaranteed that the Blues will have 10 times more supporters at Wembley than Salford.

The League Two side were handed just an initial allocation of 3,000 on Wednesday.
