Ronan Curtis rescued Republic of Ireland under-21s a point last night.

The Pompey forward scored a late equaliser to earn Noel King’s side a 1-1 draw in their European Championships qualifier in Kosovo.

Ireland fell behind in the 65th minute when Florjan Smakiqi broke the deadlock.

Yet Curtis, who has been in rampant form since completing a summer move to Fratton Park, continued his goal streak for his country.

On 81 minutes, the former Derry City ace cut in from the left before rifling a right-footed shot beyond the Kosovo keeper.

It was Curtis’ sixth goal of the campaign, having netted five for Kenny Jackett’s side to date.

The south London-born talent will again represent his country against Germany in Dublin on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old will miss Pompey’s clash against Shrewsbury today.
