Pompey have recalled Dan Smith from his loan spell at Bognor Regis.

The Rocks confirmed on Twitter the striker has returned to Fratton Park, after not being named in Jack Pearce’s squad for their Isthmian League premier division clash at Lewes today.

Smith, 18, made an instant impact at Nyewood Lane, scoring four goals in as many matches.

However, the Warsash talent has been brought back to the Blues by manager Kenny Jackett.

The marksman’s return comes after Conor Chaplin did not make the trip to Doncaster on Saturday at his own request.

The 21-year-old remains keen on a move away from Pompey before Friday's loan window closes, with Coventry his preferred destination.
