The Blues are in a race against time to ensure their first-choice centre-halves will be available for next week’s clash against Oxford United.

Although both want to be involved, their situations are making it more complicated.

Burgess has emerged as a target for Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise next season and they may not want him to risk injury before his move is finalised.

Raggett is out of contract with Norwich this summer, but the Canaries hold a year’s option on the man whose form has grown throughout the season.

The Premier League club could conceivably use that as leverage in agreeing a permanent deal before giving the green light for the 26-year-old to play.

Pompey also have six others out of contract and need to decide who’ll be handed short-term deals ahead of tonight’s deadline, as well as who’ll be offered a new deal for next season.

Oxford set for a second friendly in as many days

Pompey’s play-off opponents Oxford had their first friendly since returning to training yesterday.

The U’s fell to a 2-1 defeat at Reading, with Ben Woodburn netting for the visitors.

Today, Karl Robinson’s men will be in warm-up action again later today against another Championship side.

Robinson told the Oxford Mail: “What we knew as right (before the lockdown) is out the window, it’s almost now on ‘how do you feel?’

“It was really surreal to watch, more than 100 days since we last played. “Aspects of our game looked OK, some weren’t what you’d expect. But we were going in to play against a team that was littered with players who have Premier League experience and it was our first game back after two weeks of training."

Time continues to tick

This really could be a long night! As of yet, Christian Burgess and Sean Raggett have yet to be confirmed for the play-offs.

Burgess and Raggett extended!

Both players have been confirmed for the play-off finals.

A Pompey statement read: 'Pompey have extended the contracts of several players to ensure they are available for the League One play-offs. The deals of Lee Brown, Christian Burgess, Matt Casey, Oli Hawkins, Brandon Haunstrup, Adam May, Brett Pitman and Sean Raggett were due to expire at the end of the month. However, all of those players can now feature in the games against Oxford and, should the Blues progress, the Wembley final.'

'The club would like to thank Norwich for allowing Raggett to complete the campaign at Fratton Park.

'Luke McGee has opted not to sign an extension and will now leave the club after making 55 appearances since signing from Tottenham in the summer of 2017.

'Teenage striker Bradley Lethbridge is also set to depart Fratton Park. He played three times for the first team, scoring in this season’s EFL Trophy clash with Oxford.

'Portsmouth Football Club thank both Luke and Bradley for their service to the club and wish them well for the future.'
