The striker has definitely been ruled out of Saturday's trip to Tranmere, while he may also be absent for the visit to Coventry next week.

Hawkins suffered a head injury representing the reserves in a 2-1 loss at Exeter on Tuesday. He was forced off in the 40th minute having sustained concussion and was replaced by Alfie Stanley.

Protocol means the ex-Dagenham man is forced to miss the clash at Prenton Park – although he’s the only new injury concern from last weekend’s win defeat of Sunderland.

Blues boss Kenny Jackett said: ‘Oli Hawkins came off in the week at Exeter with concussion.

'He is okay but there is a 5-7 day rule that will rule him out.

‘Similarly, he’s who’s not been in the 18 at the moment, so for the group that have been doing well of late and representing Portsmouth, they are all fit and available going up to Tranmere.

‘Oli did in on Tuesday, so we’ll see how he is over the weekend. There is a 5-7 day rule with head injuries and concussion, which we have to respect.’

Bryn Morris continues his rehabilitation for his abdomen problem.
