The Covid-19 outbreak has suspended the season for more than two months and there’s still to be a decision made by the EFL on how it will finish.
It has been widely reported the EFL are due to meet later this week, with the suggestion that both the third and fourth tiers will be called off due to the ongoing pandemic. However, Blues chief executive Mark Catlin distanced himself from that talk and underlined the club’s determination to explore every possible way of finishing the 2019-20 campaign.
Nevertheless, every side in League One has their own stance. We’ve looked at what each of them have been saying...
1. Accrington Stanley
Owner Andy Holt has strongly been against the season restarting behind closed doors. He says Accy stand to lose £500,000 if that happens and has stressed his priority is keeping his club afloat. Photo: Charlotte Tattersall
2. AFC Wimbledon
The Wombles haven’t made their stance public, but they’d stay up if the season was decided by a points-per-game system. Photo: Alex Burstow
3. Blackpool
The Seasiders have been asked for their stance by the Blackpool Gazette, but have received little response. Gazette reporter Matt Scrafton believes the club would be in favour of voting for the season to be completed, though, as they sit in mid-table with little to play for. Photo: Richard Sellers
4. Bolton
A club statement on May 1 read Bolton will only return to play ‘if protocols can be put in place, and adhered to, which ensure everyone’s health is not compromised and there is no additional strain placed on the emergency services’.
